We would be willing to pay almost any amount of money to see a time lapse of all the largest cities in the world as they developed into the juggernauts that they are today. The greatest cities in the world have undergone complete overhauls and evolution for both social and political reasons. One unique addition to the architecture of these giant populaces has been that of the skyscraper. Designed to wow the eye and reach toward the sky, these massive buildings are indicative of modern architecture done right. Let’s take a look at 10 of the most impressive and tallest skyscrapers in the world.

Taipei 101..

Formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, this landmark building sits in the Xinyi District in Taipei, Taiwan. The building was designe dby KTRT Joint Venture with CY Lee as the lead architect. The building took over five years to build, from 1999 to 2004, and it sits at 1,667 feet tall. With 101 flowers, 61 elevators, and engineering tricks to make it withstand typhoons and earthquakes there might not be a better way to kick off our list. The reason that the Taipei 101 sits at 101 floors is due to the Taiwanese belief in the ‘renewal of time’. Every 101 years time resets so this makes it always on a ‘fresh start’ so to speak.

Trump International Hotel & Tower

Donald Trump may be one of the least convincing politicians of our time but he is decidedly glamorous when it comes to putting his name up in lights. The Trump International Hotel & Tower is the tallest building in Chicago with its roof tip hitting 1,170 feet. The building is located alongside the Chicago River and it demands a view over both the city, the river, and Lake Michigan out to the east. The building cost $1,847 million dollars and it took almost five years of constant construction to complete. If you wanted to make your way into one of the nicer penthouses in the tower you would have to fork over upwards of $20 million for the right. This is the tallest building in Chicago, the fourth tallest building in the US, and the 18th tallest building in the entire world. Par for the course, Trump has combined both style and lavish in order to make something spectacular.
