Favell, now 28 years old, was born in raised in Swansea, Wales. A few years ago in 2014, she started gaining weight out of nowhere, and within a few years, she could easily pass for someone who was nine months pregnant. In an interview, she told BBC that she never considered herself to be very skinny, but she could tell that this wasn’t normal weight gain.

Because she was so health-conscious, her rapid weight gain was confusing and frustrating for her. She tried to get her questions resolved, but doctors kept dismissing her.

At this point at the beginning of Keely’s story, her biggest problem was deciding whether or not she should go to her company’s holiday party, as the dress she originally purchased no longer fit her and it made her feel very uncomfortable. She simply thought she was gaining weight and wasn’t thin enough for her dress anymore.

Despite her diet and exercise attempts as well as her doctor visits, she couldn’t lose this weight; in fact, her belly kept getting bigger.  She explained, “I was exercising and eating healthily but I was slowly getting bigger.” We can only imagine how frustrating it would be to gain so much weight constantly while you’re so aware of your diet and exercise routines.

“It crept up so slowly [that] I didn’t know anything was wrong – I thought I was putting on timber.” Even though she was putting in as much effort as she possibly could to make sure that she was eating properly and exercising enough, she just kept putting on weight, and she didn’t know what else to do.

Unfortunately, after going to see her doctor she just felt even worse about herself. The doctor said there is nothing wrong with her, she’s just ‘merely fat’. Even though all of Keely’s doctors dismissed her concerns and said they were nothing for her to worry about, she still knew something wasn’t quite right. She kept going on with her daily routine as normally as she could, but she knew she had to keep trying to figure out what was wrong with her.

She couldn’t shake the thought of wondering how it could be possible that she wasn’t pregnant. Every sign and symptom she was experiencing pointed to her being pregnant, so how was it that all of her doctors were saying she wasn’t? She explained, “It was a tough period in work and when I passed out my GP put it down to stress.” She was given no other tests and had no explanations as to what was growing inside of her or why she passed out; she had no choice but to keep living her life as she had been.

Some people who didn’t know how hard Keely had tried to get some sort of answer just assumed that she was simply not taking care of herself. They wondered why it was taking her so long to do something about her health problems, even though this wasn’t the case.

Sure enough, though, after she passed out at work for the fourth time, she said no more and finally got help! Finally, the doctor agreed to order Keely an ultrasound to see if there was anything going on that they could point out. Basically, an ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that starts to grow on top of a woman’s ovary. Many people experience ovarian cysts at some point in their life; they’re usually harmless and will go away on their own eventually, but this was not the case for Keely.

The only time when a cyst becomes life-threatening is in a situation where they pop or rupture, start to block the blood flow through the body, or like in Keely’s case, become extremely large. This was so rare that doctors were not sure exactly how to approach it.

About a month after her diagnosis, Keely met with a specialist who was going over all of her options with her. The face of the doctor who gave her the ultrasound was stuck in her head; the pure shock and disbelief in the doctor’s face were enough to scare Keely forever.

He was able to calmly explain to Keely that she had an ovarian mass and that she needed to have it removed somehow, but behind his apparent-calm nature, Keely could tell that he, too, was freaking out. The three little boys running around made things pretty frantic and overwhelming for the Tolbert family. On the other side, Nia and Robert worked well together to maintain order and provide a loving environment.

They held three young boys in their hands and packed them inside their house. The Tolberts didn’t want to add to their family through pregnancy because they felt it was already very big. However, plans frequently go horribly wrong in real life, and events can take a drastically different course. She was fully aware that this pregnancy would be unique because it was her third. Nia prayed and hoped that this sensation meant she was carrying a girl. During her third pregnancy, Nia noticed that she was experiencing a lot more emotional reactions, which she assumed was typical. She had the strong feeling that her pregnant hormones were rising even higher than usual. In addition, she noticed that she was expanding far more quickly than she had throughout her previous pregnancies. She had a sneaking suspicion that something wasn’t right with her. She was conducting her business in the same way she always had, so she had no idea what was happening. She continued her yoga practice, ate a balanced diet, and took her neonatal vitamins as directed. She didn’t fully appreciate how different things were this time until she went in for her first scan.

When Nia went in for her first sonogram, she was both anxious and happy because she felt like something wasn’t quite right. But she was conscious of the difference. She was unable to put her finger on it, but she could tell it was unique. After the twins were born, Robert and I had no desire to have any more children, despite our frequent jokes about having a big family. But we were in store for a welcome surprise.

Nia prepared for her ultrasound in the doctor’s office while simultaneously realizing something had changed. She mentally prepared herself for any surprises that might occur and prayed against hope that the infant was not unwell. When we learned we were carrying twins, the ultrasound technician asked if multiples ran in our family; so, when the technician asked the same question this time, I thought we were expecting twins once more, Nia said.

The ultrasound technician confirmed something after a little wait at the doctor’s office that neither she nor Robert had thought would occur. At the time, Nia was expecting a second set of twins. Wow, what a fantastic accomplishment! Although she was initially completely surprised by it, she quickly came to grips with it and decided to view it as yet another huge favor and gift from God. When Nia returned from using the restroom, the technician had instructed her to check everything again to make sure it was all in working order.

A More Thorough Ultrasound

The second ultrasound took a little longer and was more thorough because the technician did not want to miss anything unexpected. In fact, Nia was looking right at the unexpected square in her face. The technician revealed that Nia was carrying two babies at the time. However, they were actually triplets and not even identical twins! Nia has three children and was three months pregnant! Nia claims that since hearing the news, her life has “completely spiraled out of control” and she “has no idea what to do with herself.” Although she had experience managing twins, managing triplets would be a completely different challenge. Though she was concerned about how she and Robert would handle having three more children, she was sure that everything would turn out just fine.

After the news had sank in and everyone was on board with what was about to happen, Nia went back to the same doctor who had delivered her twins to schedule the delivery of the triplets. He describes it as “extremely rare” to become pregnant with one child, then two, and finally three children. Dr. Rami Tabbarah continued by stating that considering the circumstances, Nia’s pregnancies were truly amazing. “It’s extremely unlikely that it will happen to anyone in general,” Dr. Tabbarah said. “We’re talking about a birth rate of less than one in every 1,000.” The author notes that having two twins and then three triplets in the same lifetime is highly uncommon.

Given that both Nia’s and Robert’s families are renowned for having several children in the past, Nia should be predicted to have a high likelihood of having numerous children. Being overburdened, standing taller than average, and being of African American descent are all signs that a woman is likely to give birth to multiples. It did, after all, make sense in the end.

When Nia discovered she was pregnant, she was trying to decide how to break the news to her husband. Nia had made the decision to leave Robert with the ideal farewell gift, which he would only learn after she had left, since she was leaving for the weekend in Tampa, Florida. She drew a picture of her sonogram showing the three children clearly visible and identified. She also places three onesie sets and a note on the table, asking Robert to “please accept this gift from her and God.”

“When I opened the bag, I saw a very, very long sonogram,” Robert recalled the incident. When Robert finally realized the significance of the present, he collapsed to the ground. “Then I noticed that there were three onesies in the bag… and they were labeled with the numbers 1, 2, and 3.” “I was completely taken aback,” he said. Nia was puzzled as to why Robert was taking so long to contact her and said, “I just went straight to bed after dinner.”

Robert called Nia’s number as soon as he understood what was happening and that his wife was expecting three children. Despite all of the worries and troubles that had previously been on his mind, the excellent news made him glad. Later, when he laughed, it became clear that he had been making hints about getting a Fitbit for some time, and that Nia had really bought one for him before she went for her vacation to Europe. Instead, he got a huge, drastically altering surprise.

I was finally able to contact him when I arrived in Tampa later that day for a girls’ getaway, and he told me that while he was happy, his “fainting” had happened. Nia considered the predicament. Fortunately, Robert could start working as soon as he was over the first shock of becoming a triplet father. He added that he and his wife, Nia, were “making adjustments and making room for their three little blessings that were about to arrive!” The family had their job cut out for them because they were expecting three children!

A Gender Reveal Party

The couple decided that they did not want to wait to learn the gender of the triplets. Instead, they made the decision to host a sizable gender reveal celebration so that everyone could learn the news together in front of their friends and loved ones. Three balloons would be popped, revealing each gender, and the color of the confetti would indicate the gender of the balloons that were released. On the day of the celebration, everyone was buzzing with excitement. Since the confetti was pink when the first balloon was popped, the celebration was for girls. The second balloon dropped pink confetti, and the third balloon showed the same shade! When Nia found out that they were having three children, she was overjoyed!

When Robert and Nia learned that they would soon be welcome three newborn daughters into their family, they were ecstatic. Finally complete and balanced, their family would have three boys and three daughters. Although this was the case, some people did not like the announcement. The news that they wouldn’t be getting any more brothers made the Tolbert boys heartbroken. “They were hoping for a full house of Ninja Turtles and superhero boys,” Nia said. Before they agreed to the idea of three young sisters, they needed to be persuaded that “they got a full house.”

Rob is thrilled to have his own gang because the lads are hooked to me like glue, Nia said in an interview with Us magazine, adding that she and her husband were “both excited about this new experience of parenting girls.” She was optimistic and sure of the outcome, but she also showed some interest in how it might change the dynamic of her family, asking, “I’m curious… how will it change the dynamic of our household?” might it be as dramatic as it seems in the movies? Who will comb through all of that hair in the first place? We are all aware that things will soon become fascinating. But until we find our stride, we’re counting on Pinterest and God to get us through!”

The due date for Nia and Robert’s babies, who were expecting triplets, was February 9, but there was no way of knowing when they would really give birth. A few weeks before her due date, Nia began to experience contractions, but she didn’t pay much attention to them because they came and went so swiftly. However, Nia reported that things started to change when she “felt some that were about five minutes apart and started getting closer, so I decided to call my mother.” In fact, when Nia spoke to her mother, she expressed her belief that she would be “going to the hospital and [that] they [would] probably send me home.”

Nia and Robert made the decision to go to the hospital, and when they got there, they fully anticipated that after a quick checkup and examination, the doctors would just send them home. The doctor’s announcement that Nia was “going to have the babies today,” as she put it, caught them both off guard because pregnancies are seldom predictable. Nia, who was obviously in shock, started urgently asking her own doctor for help. Just as her water burst, her doctor entered the room, interrupting her before she could finish.It was as though everything had been planned out from the start. Finally, the triplets arrived at their goal! Rober prepared himself for what was going to be a long night as Nia was getting ready. The fact that Nia and their triplets will always be secure and in good health, though, was what mattered most to him.

The good news is that everything went as planned, and on January 30th, 2018, Nia was able to deliver all three babies via cesarean section. Nia and their entire family were in wonderful health and doing remarkably well. The doctor approached Nia after the birth and asked how she was doing. Nia was then given the chance to hold the babies for the first time, and she said, with a great smile on her face, “They’re so cute.” “Oh my goodness.” After a total of 34 weeks of pregnancy, Nia and Robert were finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when their three little angels were born.

The Triplets

Despite the preterm birth of the triplets, all of the newborns were in perfect health and weighed between 4 and 4.6 pounds. The third infant appeared to be fraternal twins, while the other two babies appeared to be identical twins. The next easy task for Nia and Robert was to decide which names would be best for their adorable children. They reached a decision after only a brief period of discussion. The identical twins were called Zuri and Bailey, as well as their fraternal daughter Mackenzie. Nia immediately gained the moniker “1-2-3 mom” after giving birth to the girls since she gave birth to a single child, then twins, and then triplets all at once!

Faith In God

It was only by taking things one day at a time and putting their faith in God that Robert and Nia could hope for the best in their circumstance. When others asked Nia if she had a game plan, she simply replied, “There isn’t a genuine strategy at this moment. Robert said, “We were selected by God. How precisely did the Tolbert family manage to make things work? “We had no idea this would be our life, but we’re embracing it enthusiastically and we’re going to do everything we can to ensure that our children are treated equally.”
