Domestic Gross: $281.6 million

The much-anticipated sequence of “The Matrix” in 1999 started in 2003 with enthusiastic audience records smashing and earning more than $100 million more than the script. “The Matrix Reloaded,” the “Beverly Hills Cop,” finally surpassed it as the highest R film ever. It will not last long, but in 15 years, it would be the most promising sequence with R-rated results. “The Lord of the Rings: The King’s return,” “Finding Nemo,” and “The Black Pearl Curses” all were big hits in 2003, but “The Reloaded Lady” had the best opening weekend.
