‘Ted’ (2012)
Domestic Gross: $218.8 million
Which film in the ever-popular “slacker/stoner” subgenre has had the most success? Unfortunately, none of them have outperformed “Ted,” according to Box Office Mojo. Mark Wahlberg and his childhood teddy bear, who came to life and was played by Seth MacFarlane, starred in this 2012 sitcom. When “Ted 2,” released in 2015, only made $81 million in the United States, it was obvious that lightning couldn’t strike twice.

It was a smart decision to take the famous X-Men character Wolverine in a dark new direction. Hugh Jackman’s “Logan,” in which he played an aging, gruff version of his original superhero persona, was a big hit in 2017, grossing more than all of the previous PG-13-rated X-Men films. “Logan” went on to become one of the most well-received comic book films, with a Rotten Tomatoes Fresh ranking of 93 percent.
