‘Wedding Crashers’ (2005)
Domestic Gross: $209.2 million
“The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Brokeback Mountain,” and “Saw II” were all major R-rated releases in 2005, but “Wedding Crashers” easily outperformed them all at the box office. This comedy starred Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as two ruthless bachelors who routinely disrupted strangers’ weddings to sleep with women. “Wedding Crashers” is the second-highest-grossing film with a wedding as its main plot, behind only “Bridesmaids” and “Mamma Mia!” according to Box Office Mojo.

‘300’ (2007)
Domestic Gross: $210.6 million
“300” was the highest-grossing R-rated film based on a comic book released in 2007. It has since lost that title, but with $210 million, it was the highest-grossing R-rated film of the year and the only one in the top ten for 2007. It was a fictionalized and highly stylized account of a famous Persian War battle in which vastly outnumbered Greek troops battled Persian armies. The film “300” grossed more than $450 million worldwide.
